Essential Functions
• Establishes and maintains close collaboration with clinical, business staff, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with key internal/external customers.
• Coordinates patient care through the cancer continuum by assisting with timely access to care, coordinating/scheduling appointments and services, and encouraging adherence to treatment plans, protocols, and follow up care.
• Builds awareness of the oncology navigator’s role by participating in marketing and community outreach efforts.
• Demonstrates knowledge, skill, and coordination to provide care and guidance to the cancer patient from screening to survivorship.
• Participates in the performance improvement process with the department leaders, making ongoing recommendations, providing
updates on institution practices, involved in the patient/guest satisfaction.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Education/Training
High school diploma and medical terminology and/or basic anatomy training required, Cert, GED
Licensure/Certification
For Oncology: Oncology Patient Navigator – Certified Generalist (OPN-CG) within 2 years of job entry date.
Experience
Three (3) years of relevant work experience in customer service required. Healthcare experience preferred. Navigation/care coordination
experience preferred.
