Position Summary
The ECE Instructional Coach enhances academic and social-emotional outcomes by providing professional learning and coaching for teachers. They work closely with school-based leadership to tailor coaching based on data, ensuring effective instructional planning and execution through ongoing in-class coaching and workshops. By implementing evidence-based coaching frameworks, the Every Child Ready Professional Learning Scope and Sequence, and the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), the Instructional Coach drives positive outcomes for both children and teachers. They maintain expertise in instructional and behavioral interventions within the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and promote inclusive practices by supporting IEP goals and supporting teachers' use of Every Child Ready assessments to monitor children's progress. The coach systematically collects and analyzes classroom data, documenting coaching activities to guide practice and decision-making. Additionally, they contribute to a community of practice by collaborating with various teams and refining instructional resources and materials.
What you’ll do…
Professional Learning and Coaching
● Adherence to ECR Professional Learning: Use the ECR Professional Learning Scope and Sequence as a guide to support the high-quality implementation of the Every Child Ready instructional model to support positive outcomes for teachers and children.
● Develop and implement data-informed unique coaching plans, informed by observational coaching tools, for classrooms and campuses to address identified instructional and behavioral needs. These plans should include support in planning, modeling, and co-teaching lessons.
● Collaborative Instructional Planning: Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to identify the instructional needs of students, set learning goals and targets using a variety of data sources, and problem- solve with teachers to implement best practices for continuous academic growth of students.
● Ongoing Coaching and Workshops: Implement ongoing in-class coaching and workshops in assigned schools and classrooms to enhance instructional quality and student outcomes.
● Maintain Proficiency in CLASS: Continuously develop expertise in the Classroom Assessment
Scoring System (CLASS) to effectively observe, assess, and provide feedback on classroom interactions, ensuring high-quality instructional practices that support student outcomes. Provide additional training and feedback loops with teachers and leaders to strengthen the CLASS knowledge base, as needed.
● Perform other duties and responsibilities related to instructional, behavioral and all content areas as assigned by supervisor
Instructional Support and Leadership
● Systematic Data Application: Apply data systematically to support the implementation of the Every Child Ready (ECR) instructional model, ensuring all students are prepared for academic success.
● Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Implementation: Collaborate with and support instructional leadership to ensure teachers implement the MTSS model as designed, providing targeted interventions for children. Support classrooms in evaluating formal and informal student achievement data, and assist with placing students in the appropriate small groups and interventions along the MTSS continuum. Provide explicit coaching through modeling, observing, providing feedback, and supporting teacher reflection around moving students through progressions of learning.
● IEP Goals Implementation: Support the implementation and data collection aligned with IEP goals in the general education classroom as needed, promoting inclusive practices.
● Partner with school leaders to foster an instructional culture of high expectations for adults and children. Acts as school instructional leader in the absence of the principal.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Collect, analyze and model the use of data to drive instruction
● Use Every Child Ready observational tools to collect and analyze data consistently and provide ongoing feedback to teaching teams
● Model and assist teachers with collection and analysis of student data and classroom quality data to drive instruction
● Actively participate in the MTSS Core Teams at assigned schools as the data lead, providing ongoing feedback to the team about student progress.
● Classroom-Based Assessments: Assist teachers in implementing the Every Child Ready assessments to monitor children’s social-emotional and academic progress. Collect and analyze assessment data to ensure continuous improvement and responsiveness to student needs.
● Documentation of Coaching Activities: Utilize appropriate forms and multimedia tools to document coaching activities and in-classroom support experiences. Maintain thorough and accurate records to guide practice and decision-making.
● Data Entry Support: Assist the ECR Assessment team in monitoring data entry for teachers and provide data entry support as needed, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Continuously Contributes to a Community of Practice Identifying ways to Inform Development and Continuous Improvement of Instructional Model
● Regularly communicates and collaborates with Implementation, Every Child Ready Model Development and instructional teams across programs to analyze data across programs and contribute ideas for instructional and curriculum supports.
● Provides feedback and actively participates in cross-collaborative work, including Professional Learning meetings and planning and implementation for Summer Institute.
● Highlights Implementation and Every Child Ready best practices processes and procedures to a variety of stakeholders as assigned.
● Encourages teacher participation and feedback in the ECR Teacher Advisory Committee
What we’re looking for…
● Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree strongly preferred) in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related field
● Demonstrated expertise in analyzing data to support children’s progressions of learning throughout the MTSS continuum
● Strong skills in adult learning and practice; demonstrated ability to coach teachers and change practice and implementation
● Demonstrated ability to develop positive, effective and mutually beneficial relationships with a variety of stakeholders within AppleTree Schools and across teams at AppleTree Institute. ● Versatility and a total learner mentality: comfort learning about new content areas and approaches to work and is willing to jump in where needed
● Two to three years of experience with coaching or facilitating learning for adults is preferred to include classroom-based instructional coaching experience outside the classroom; In addition, 3 years of successful professional teaching experience required, 5 or more years preferred
● Technological proficiency in GSuite, Asana, Canvas, Microsoft Office and/or willingness to learn new technology platforms as required
● Candidate must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel to multiple campuses; This role is 100% school-based. When the instructional coach does not report to their assigned campus, they are expected to work in-person at the home office.

Compensation
The full salary range is $62,400 - $94,000. AppleTree generally caps salaries for newly hired or newly promoted staff at 100-105% of midpoint of the range ($78,374 - $82,293). However, if you are currently a Step 3 (Specialist), this would be a lateral position with no change in compensation.
