- Performs original and complex copy cataloging of all formats for discovery and access
- Interprets and applies Library of Congress subject headings, Billings classification, RDA, and OCLC standards in cataloging and classifying library materials
- Aids in the maintenance of the catalog database
- Oversees and executes previously developed batch processes and applications to transform and enrich cataloging metadata
- Plans and executes special cataloging assignments and contributes to developing procedures, manuals, and reports.

Required Education, Experience & Skills
- ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies
- Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate issued by the State of New York
- Reading knowledge of at least one of the following languages: French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Yiddish
- Demonstrated knowledge of MARC21 and ISBD
- Knowledge of RDA and AACR2
- Knowledge of subject analysis and Library of Congress Subject Headings
- Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification and Dewey Decimal Classification
- Familiarity with principles of authority control
- Familiarity with an ILS system (preferably Innovative’s Sierra) and a bibliographic utility such as OCLC Connexion.
- Familiarity with emerging trends and issues in cataloging.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient experience using Google Suite or Microsoft Office software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on projects with a variety of colleagues.
- Familiarity with or interest in learning programming or query languages such as Python, SQL or Bash
