About the program
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About you:
- Familiarity with software-defined networking
- Experience with network management systems
- Experience with Voice, Mobile, Data and Satellite connectivity
- Experience in designing and implementing complex network architectures
- Experience with Python, Unix/Linux
- Knowledge in routing, switching and firewall technologies
- Relevant qualifications, experience or certifications (e.g.
- Awareness of Security frameworks, governance and compliance
- Excellent analysis skills with an ability to develop and evaluate alternatives to determine best value based on customer-provided performance weighting
- Excellent verbal communication skills including both speaking and listening to the customer
Any knowledge or awareness of:
- Model based Systems development and model-based Engineering principles
- Infrastructure software technologies include virtualisation, multi-level security, cyber defence, network accreditation, information assurance, system management
- Infrastructure hardware technologies including computing
- Agile Engineering Methodology
- Configuration Management principals and experience with configuration management

Special Requirements:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement network solutions aligned with AIR6500 requirements and technology strategy.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather, clarify, and document business and technical requirements.
- Facilitate capability and capacity planning strategies into network architecture.
- Implement cyber security measures into network designs, validate the effectiveness of the proposed network architecture against these security requirements.
- Evaluate and analyse technology options, defining selection criteria and documenting assessments.
- Contribute to the design, create configurations, implement and conduct maintenance of network security solutions including firewalls, load balances, virtual appliances, VPNs, as well as cloud-native routing and switching technologies.
- Contribute to the design, create configurations, Install and configure physical hardware and virtual devices including network routers, switches and compute servers.
- Set-up and configuration of Software Defined Networking solutions.
- Work with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and System Architects to guide hardware requirements.
- Contribute to the development of security by design into the Network Architecture.
- Contribute to the development of key AIR6500 technical documents and artefacts such as network solution description, trade studies and definition of requirements.
- Work with a broad set of stakeholders, across the Lockheed
- Martin Business and design partners for the achievement of common goals.
