We are seeking a motivated and compassionate McGrath Cancer Care Nurse – Lung (MCCN Lung) to join our Ambulatory Services team on a full-time basis. This unique role is proudly funded by the McGrath Foundation and offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients with cancer and their families.
About the Role
As the McGrath Cancer Care Nurse – Lung, you will play a vital role in delivering expert clinical and supportive care to patients diagnosed with lung cancer and their families. This role provides a unique opportunity to combine advanced nursing practice with patient advocacy, education, and care coordination across the cancer care continuum.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients and their families receive the highest standard of care, while also promoting awareness of cancer services within the community and supporting the objectives of the McGrath Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering specialist cancer care, education and support for patients and carers.
- Coordinating care and acting as a key liaison across oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, allied health, and community services.
- Providing evidence-based clinical assessments and developing tailored care plans.
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and cancer service planning.
- Promoting cancer care awareness and representing LRH and the McGrath Foundation at events and education activities.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
- Minimum of five years’ post-registration nursing experience, with at least three years in oncology, palliative care, or cancer-specific nursing.
- Advanced clinical assessment, case management and care coordination skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
- Desirable qualifications include postgraduate study in oncology, palliative care, or cancer nursing.
