Position Duties

The Loudoun County Department of General Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Building Systems Specialist vacancy. This position organizes, oversees, and manages the acquisition, development, and ongoing management of building systems for County facilities and is part of the special projects team.

The successful candidate will:
• Plan, organize, and manage complex construction and maintenance programs to include major facilities maintenance and infrastructure replacement projects.
• Execute assigned projects, meeting timeline and budget goals.
• Manage development of building assessments.
• Develop pre-designed programs and professional services, and construction contract scopes of work.
• Establish facility maintenance and repair programs to ensure safe and effective use, and to enhance the longevity of the facility.
• Ensure work is executed in accordance with approval plans and specifications.
• Oversee contractors to ensure all agreement requirements are achieved.
• Inspect construction sites and hold progress meetings with contractors.
• Utilize the Asset Management System to assist with project planning and asset procurement.
• Possess a strong understanding of the trades.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, or related field (prefer Master's degree) with coursework in HVAC, plumbing, and/or electrical system design; four (4) years of related work experience managing the engineering, operations, and maintenance of complex building systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The following are preferred (but not required) qualifications:
• Background and proficiency in Mechanical Systems and/or MEP Trades (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing)
• Related certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), and/or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
• Microsoft Office
• Prior experience utilizing Asset Management System(s)

Other Qualifications

Successful candidate will have a valid driver's license and undergo pre-employment criminal, credit, and DMV background checks, to include criminal justice information system (CJIS) fingerprinting.

Driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification. Must be able to inspect existing facilities and active construction projects; will be exposed to inclement weather while in the field; will be exposed to hazardous conditions associated with construction sites and activities. Must be able to lift seventy (70) pounds. Must be available for duty beyond the normal workday; must be available 24/7 when required to respond to County emergencies.
