Partner with the Division of Health and Wellness and assigned school to provide mental health support to target groups of students who are at an elevated risk of suicide for a number of factors.

The goals of the program are to:

  • Reduce the time a student is away from their home school,
  • Increase the number of students who are connected to mental health supports, and
  • Reduce the likelihood that a student will be placed outside their home school again for the same reason.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support students receiving educational services outside their assigned school (i.e. alternative placement due to code of conduct violation, intensive mental health support in the community, and extended homebound services due to mental health concerns).
  • Support groups of students who are at an elevated risk due to factors, including history of mental illness, criminal and legal problems, substance use, high conflict and violent relationships, etc.
  • Collaborate with the student, parents/guardians, and other relevant parties (i.e., community partners, physician, etc.). In-person check-ins may involve home visits or visits to other community sites
  • Assist students and family with making connections to mental health providers, if necessary.
  • Assist in the collection of data for reporting results.
  • May assist in the provision of professional development for school staff at the school.
  • May assist in facilitating informational sessions for families and/or community partners.
  • May facilitate small groups for students (with common needs) to support students with the skills needed to return to school.
  • Prepare and maintain timely documentation and records in accordance with agency, state accreditation, and other requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in regular peer review, individual supervision, and clinical consultation as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with the agency and community.
  • Supervise students as assigned.
  • Maintain agency standards regarding confidentiality, quality, and productivity.
  • Serve on staff committees as assigned and/or approved.
  • Some state-wide travel required as assigned.


Position based at McCollough Middle School


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in social work, Counseling or related degree, two years post-masters experience with a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH or LMFT), preferred; Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related degree with a minimum of a graduate license (LMSW or LAC)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, which meets the requirements of the agency’s insurance carrier.
