Overview:

Coordinates Employee Health Program

 

SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION:

 

This position is a designated as “Safety Sensitive Position” under Act 593 of the State of Arkansas. An employee who is under the influence of Marijuana constitutes a threat to patients/customers which Conway Regional is responsible for in providing and supporting the delivery health care related services. 

Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice as RN/LPN in the State of Arkansas
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience 
  • Experience in an Occupational Health setting preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensures mandatory annual training as required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Compiles data for reporting to the Infection Control Committee
  • Participates in programs to increase employee and community wellness
  • Implements & administers the employee health program.
  • Coordinates policies & planning for the employee health program with hospital           leadership, infection prevention, pharmacy, other departments & relevant external agencies.
  • Conducts health inventories for new employees, including immunization status or history of vaccine preventable diseases & history of conditions that may predispose personnel toward acquiring or transmitting infectious diseases as well as determines prospective employee’s ability to perform the essential job functions.
  • Formulates a written comprehensive policy on immunizing healthcare personnel.
  • Coordinates all employee health required vaccinations, immunizations, & post            exposure prophylaxis.
  • Ensures that when personnel are offered necessary prophylactic treatment with           drugs, vaccines or immune globulins, they are informed of options for             prophylaxis, the risk (if known) of infection when treatment is not accepted, the              degree of protection provided by the therapy & the potential side effects of the              therapy.
  • Establishes a readily available mechanism for personnel to obtain advice about                 illnesses they may acquire from or transmit to patients.
  • Notifies Infection Prevention Nurse of infections in personnel that require work               restrictions or exclusion from work, work related infections & exposures &                clearance for work after an infectious illness that required work restrictions or             exclusion.
  • Conducts personnel health assessments on an as needed basis as required to evaluate work related illness or exposures to infectious diseases.
  • Investigate, assess & follow up on work related injuries & illnesses.
  • Assists employees in obtaining medical care as needed for work related illnesses        or injury.
  • Maintains a record on health care personnel that includes information obtained during the health screening, immunization records, results of tests obtained in any  screening or control programs, & reports of work related illnesses, injuries or exposures in  accordance with state & federal regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a personnel database that allows tracking of personnel immunizations, screening tests & assessments.
  • Ensures that Employee Health Policies are current & revised annually.
  • Shares information acquired through seminars & workshops with others.
  • Adheres to dress code, conduct & attendance policies.
  • Demonstrates commitment to program & organizational mission.
  • Helps coordinate Employee Wellness Program
  • Adheres to local, state and federal regulations pertaining to Employee Health.
  • Performs annual facility TB risk assessment.
