Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Shop Foreman for our Tualatin, Oregon headquarters!
The Shop Foreman will be responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating day-to-day manufacturing activities in support of Ascentec Engineering's mission to deliver world-class precision machining and assembly solutions. This role role ensures alignment across Quality, Materials, Packaging & Shipping, Engineering, and Human Resources to achieve production targets and customer commitments. The Shop Foreman provides leadership to machinist leads and production staff, enforces compliance with company policies, drives continuous improvement, and maintains a safe, efficient, and customer-focused shop environment.
This position is on-site at our Tualatin, Oregon location (not remote or hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Requirements
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: To include but not limited to the following:
Leadership & Supervision
- Ensure manufacturing staff achieve daily, weekly, and monthly output targets by communicating clear expectations, planning work, monitoring results, and evaluating performance.
- Recruit, hire, and train employees; develop and mentor high-potential staff through training and growth opportunities.
- Hold team members accountable to departmental procedures, company policies, and safety standards.
- Counsel employees on workflow optimization and resolve disputes between team members.
- Create a culture grounded in Safety, Compliance, Quality, Customer, and Competitive principles.
- Production & Scheduling
- Plan job run sequences for machines, balancing workloads, capacity, and staffing.
- Ensure production plans are executed per schedule, escalating “line-down” risks in real time.
- Maintain machine schedules by monitoring shop utilization and capacity.
- Authorize staffing allocation to meet production goals; fill in for production leads during absences.
- Collaborate with Engineering, NPI, and Maintenance teams to resolve complex production challenges.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of quality or schedule issues.
- Implement cost-saving strategies, lean manufacturing practices, and 5S/flow initiatives.
- Suggest and collaborate on tooling/programming improvements to maximize efficiency.
- Develop and track shop floor staffing plans aligned to output and budget targets.
- Support preventive maintenance, SPC, and equipment calibration in collaboration with Maintenance and NPI teams.
Compliance & Quality
- Monitor all work-in-progress and ensure final product quality standards are met.
- Compile and analyze production records, outputs, and utilization reports.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with AS9100 standards.
- Communicate production and quality issues cross-functionally to ensure rapid resolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of supervisory or management experience in a CNC machining environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machine tools and ability to troubleshoot horizontal/vertical mills, 5-axis machines, lathes, and EDMs.
- Proficiency in GD&T; familiarity with aerospace and semiconductor manufacturing requirements.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing/ Toyota Production System (5S, Gemba walks, Six Sigma, Kanban, SMED, Muda/Muri/Mura reduction).
- Ability to create and assess performance metrics; data-driven decision-making.
- Process development or engineering background preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing/industrial engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.

Working Conditions
- Office and machine shop environment.
- Continuous walking, bending, and lifting to 40 lbs. may be required.

COMPENSATION / BENEFITS:
- $53,000 to $89,000
