Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Job Classification: Exempt
Supervisor: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Status: Part-time
Location: Hybrid: Onsite including Hibbing, Virginia, and Ely; remote work is allowed
Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000 BOE

Range Mental Health Center is proud to be a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The goals of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics program in MN are to 1) increase access to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services (particularly to under-served communities), 2) advance integration of behavioral health with physical health care, and 3) improve utilization of evidence-based practices on a more consistent basis.
Position Summary:
The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical and medical psychiatric assessment, treatment and referral, ensuring high quality and well-coordinated mental health services for the people we serve.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide psychiatric care in alignment with professional standards and specialty practice
- Contribute to the development and operation of RMHC psychiatry services, including seeing patients across the spectrum of our programs
- Willingness to have availability for occasional evening hours to accommodate patient needs
- Maintain accurate and compliant EHR documentation
- Develop and implement client-centered treatment programs
- Participate in quality assurance, outcomes monitoring, and risk management
- Support recruitment, engagement, and evaluation of staff as requested
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and accrediting requirements
- Represent RMHC positively in all professional interactions
- Engage in continuing education, in-service, and required trainings
- Communicate with the Medical Director regarding client care as required
- Adhere to RMHC’s Corporate Compliance Plan, Employee Handbook and MN Nurse Practice Act
- Perform additional duties as assigned, consistent with specialty practice
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong clinical assessment, counseling, and crisis management skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficient in EHR, Microsoft Outlook, Doxy, and other software
- Ability to complete documentation within 24 hours with very rare exception
- Skilled at managing multiple priorities in dynamic, high-stress settings
- Attentive, observant, and able to make rapid assessments
- Committed to evidence-based prescribing, including safe use and judicious prescribing of controlled substances
- Experienced or willing to learn management of substance use disorders, mental health crises, and ACT participants; able to provide colleague coverage as needed
Education and Experience:
- Licensed as a Psychiatric- Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist in Minnesota
- At least two (2) years’ experience working as a PMHNP preferred
- Must maintain appropriate credentials, licensure, and meet malpractice insurance standards
- Active, unrestricted license and unrestricted DEA registration.
- No current or pending Board of Nursing investigations.
- No Board of Nursing license actions within the past 5 years.
- Ability to successfully pass a Minnesota DHS background study.
- Ability to explain any gaps in education or employment history greater than 6 months.
Physical Requirements:
- Sufficient vision to work on a computer
- Sufficient hearing to use phone
- Ability to lift 5 pounds
- Ability to articulate the English language in a manner that is sufficiently clear to be easily understood
- Maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and physical appearance
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to maintain a Minnesota driver's license and auto insurance
- For applicants with a personal history of substance use disorder, the condition must be well-managed and pose no risk to the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care.
