The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has an opening for a full-time, exempt Studio B Assistant Manager in the Museum Sales Department.

Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Position Overview: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is recruiting a Studio Assistant Manager to assist in the daily running and management of Historic RCA Studio B as well as ensuring its legacy into the future. Duties include maintaining Studio B, its artifacts, instruments and equipment, facilitating tours and recordings, and ensuring the safety of Studio B as well as its artifacts. The position will report to the Studio B Manager, and is full-time on site.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Serve as staff engineer for recording packages.
  • Serve as on-site staff engineer for special project recordings.
  • Facilitate public tours, group tours, recording packages, and educational programs.
  • Maintain function and aesthetics of building, studio and other areas. This includes small electrical repairs, small plumbing repairs, HVAC, building cosmetics, Etc.
  • Continually research Studio B history to verify accuracy of tour material.
  • Manage, update, and organize song collection on iPads for tour purposes.
  • Ensure safety of historical artifacts during daily operation as well as any special events.
  • Clerical responsibilities including inventories, filing, maintaining forms, calendars and other activities
  • Assist with electronics repairs/restoration, maintenance of studio instruments, artifacts, Etc. This includes scheduling and overseeing monthly piano tunings. 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a commercial recording facility including music recording and recording equipment maintenance.
  • Candidate should have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of professional recording studio operations including familiarity with standard recording studio equipment functions, operations protocol and basic recording studio maintenance.
  • Candidate must be proficient in Pro Tools DAW recording software 
  • Must have an in depth understanding of the history of Historic RCA Studio B and its role in the Nashville community and music recording history. Must also have a solid understanding of the mission of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in audio, music business, or related field.

Key Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

  • Candidate must enjoy meeting and working with the public and possess strong customer service skills with a “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team. 
  • Punctuality and strong time management skills.
  • Must possess skills to assist with basic building maintenance and management.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in organizational communication skills including use of Microsoft Office software is required.
  • Must be willing to learn or have experience with scheduling software.
