About the Department
The City of Hampton's Parks, Recreation & Leisure Services Department is seeking a dedicated and energetic Youth Program Aide to assist with the development and implementation of recreational programs at our community centers. The purpose of the class is to assist the Youth Program Leaders in planning and conducting before and after-school programs, summer day camps, summer playground activities, and other recreational programs. The class works under supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- High school graduation or completion of a GED.
- Experience working in the programmatic group care of children or adults is preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
- This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
- Must successfully pass a Child Protective Services check and criminal background check related to the position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
- Requires shift work to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
