Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Fabrication Relief Operator to join our dynamic team. The Fabrication Relief Operator will be responsible for auxiliary coverage of all machines in the department in the absence of the primary operator. This includes the programming/operating of various machines including MAZAK Lathe, MAZAK Mill, Radial Drill, Press Brake, Shear, TRUMPF Laser and Saws. The position is also expected to assist the department supervisor in administrative and organizational tasks as they relate to the regular flow of production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day operation of machines as needed within the department following work lists, shop routers or direction from immediate supervisor while maintaining work schedule with a goal of improving safety and/or production.
  • Operator is responsible for all set up, programming, and fixture design; selecting proper feeds and speeds for various types of materials. Ensuring that parts meet all inspection requirements, including first piece inspection.
  • Set-up and operate all burning equipment and saws as required.
  • Set-up and operate power shear, CNC hydraulic and mechanical press brake, power rolls, and other related equipment.
  • Work from complicated production drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to lay-out and form Sheetmetal components.
  • Basic programming knowledge of machines.
  • Write advanced programs for new parts.
  • Operate overhead cranes, clamping devices.
  • Perform similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Complete tasks timely and efficiently in accordance with expectations as directed by supervisor.
  • Able to effectively utilize tools including but not limited to, hand tools, manual machine tools, torch, drill press, etc.
  • Load/unload trucks as required using forklifts and cranes when necessary.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
  • Ability to learn Eriez labor and work order collection system.
  • Notify supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

Requirements

  • High school diploma OR GED
  • Skill or experience with Mazatrol programing
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience with CAD or CAM software
  • Operation of CNC milling and Lathe machines following work lists, shop routers or direction from immediate supervisor while maintaining work schedule with a goal of improving safety and/or production. 
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and use basic shop math including decimals, fractions and geometry as well as advanced mathematics and formulas.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring instruments with proficiency.
  • Experience in programming and operating, (acknowledged training preferred) using Mazatrol or conversational control systems to create programs from engineering drawings.
  • Able to assist other operators with programming and setup.
  • Programing experience specific to machine being hired for.
  • Able to design fixtures.
  • Review and improve processes.
  • Willingness and ability to operate multiple types of CNC machinery.
  • Cross train on multiple machine types across the department or master advanced equipment.
  • Ability to learn machining processes through formal training, including knowledge of materials, feeds, speeds, tooling, inserts, coolant, drills, taps, etc.
  • Understanding of all products across multiple work areas within the department.
  • Assist individuals in solving problems encountered with specific tasks and with day-to-day operations.
  • Utilize E1 and RFSmart to track components, shortages, orders, work orders, labor, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with supervisor, manufacturing, engineering, sales, production control, etc. to plan and coordinate workflow.

Hourly pay Range: $23.23/hr. to $28.10/hr. (commensurate with experience)
