Children's Community Charter School Job Title: HEAD CUSTODIAN Position Purpose: To plan, schedule, assign and direct volunteers and participate in the cleaning, custodial and routine maintenance functions. The Head Custodian will receive limited supervision within a broad framework of policies and procedures. The Head Custodian is responsible for the general cleanliness, safety and security of the school site and facilities and exercises independent judgment in the selection of work methods and procedures used in general custodial/gardening/maintenance projects. The Head Custodian is responsible for the custodial, grounds and routine maintenance operations at school site. Supervisor: School Administrator Essential Job Duties: The following tasks are essential for this position. Incumbents in this classification may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed here. Plans, assigns, directs and participates in cleaning, custodial and routine maintenance function for assigned school site to include classrooms, offices, buildings, grounds and other facilities. Prepares work plans and schedules for the completion of custodial/maintenance projects. Performs groundskeeper work. Estimates time, materials and other resources needed to complete custodial, grounds and maintenance functions. Inspects completed work for accuracy and compliance to instructions and established custodial/maintenance standards. Performs and/or directs routine maintenance, repairs and adjustments to building fixtures, equipment and appliances. Operates, sets and checks boilers, furnaces, heaters, air conditioning, swamp coolers, lighting systems and timers as required. Inspects assigned school facilities and grounds for vandalism and sanitary/safety hazards; performs necessary repair/cleanup or reports major hazards to appropriate authority.
