The Role You’ll Play - Crisis Case Manager
As a Crisis Case Manager, you will be an essential part of the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) team. You will work closely with individuals in crisis, providing support, structure, and resources during their stay. Whether through direct client interaction, assisting with treatment plans, or responding to crisis calls, your role is to ensure that each person receives compassionate care and the tools they need to move toward stability.
The Day-to-Day:
- Assist with client check-ins, treatment planning, and daily living needs within the CSU (meals, laundry, facility upkeep)
- Provide safety and support through rounds, contraband checks, and consistent documentation
- Engage with clients through one-on-one and group support, teaching coping skills, and leading therapeutic activities
- Answer crisis calls, de-escalate situations, and connect individuals to appropriate resources (admissions, same-day appointments, ER visits, welfare checks)
- Coordinate with internal team members and community providers to ensure continuity of care
- Offer transportation to clients as needed for appointments or services
- Follow up with clients after discharge to encourage ongoing stability and connection to resources

Requirements
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human service field or equivalent work experience, or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education with one year of experience substituting for one year of education.
- Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
- Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data.
- A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
Results of criminal and all other applicable background checks must meet the approval of Pawnee Mental Health Services.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the needs and challenges of adults and children who experience Severe and Persistent Mental Illness and Severe Emotional Disturbance.
- Experience with Microsoft Office software.
- Certified in Basic CPR, First Aid, and/or CPI – if not, will be required to certify at the earliest opportunity.
