What You'll Do

As an Assistant Terminal Manager (ATMs) of Gate Operations, you will assist in overseeing the day-to-day gate operations at your assigned intermodal facility. The ATM will work hand-in-hand with the Terminal Manager to instruct and supervise a team of gate operations personnel. You will become well-versed in the maintenance and repair of the Automated Gate System (AGS) equipment and other necessary technology solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Process information from multiple technology platforms and make timely operating decisions based on those inputs to ensure safe, efficient, and customer oriented service
  • Perform simple repairs to AGS equipment and escalating more complex repairs to the home office when necessary.
  • Assist on-site and Remote Operations Center (ROC) staff resolve complex operations problems
  • Help track and update system issues and problems
  • Oversee staff scheduling, including work assignments and rotations, vacations, breaks, and coverage for absent employees
  • Ensure that daily Safety Briefings and shift updates are completed
  • Work with the Terminal Manager to generate each employee’s key performance metrics.
  • Act as an alternate representative at Yard Audit, Site Safety, and Senior Hub Management meetings when the Terminal Manager is unavailable
  • Assist in the input, review, and analysis of performance metrics
  • Help all supervised employees improve and maintain performance levels
  • Organize regularly-scheduled meetings to enhance staff understanding of the strategic terminal plan and specific KPIs

What You'll Need

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record (MVR)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the intermodal industry
  • Experience managing a team consisting of several staff members
  • Flexible schedule that can adapt to extended or adjusted hours as needed
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and implement procedural changes in a stressful environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support teamwork; experience with team building projects
  • Ability to accurately perform arithmetic computations
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirements
  • Proven ability to maintain confidential information
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong professionalism
  • Ability to pass a background and drug test, per Class 1 Railroad and E-Railsafe protocols

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Synapse AGS Clerk Console and Class 1 Railroad terminal operating systems (TSS, Oasis, ITOS, OBI, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint

Location & Schedule:

REMPREX is a 24/7/365 operation. Occasionally, the role can require travel and extended work hours, including weekends, nights and holidays, and on call duty as needed. This position requires occasional work outdoors, as well. This role is 100% on site based out of our Willow Spring Terminal: 7600 Santa Fe Dr, Hodgkins, IL 60525.
