Position Summary:
Supervise employees, financial fitness, and operational effectiveness for one or more areas within the IT department. Perform functions including; design, program, document, implement, support, and maintain computerized systems in coordination with end users to address business needs and improve the utilization of business resources. Develop plans, establish procedures, write validation protocols, and perform administrative functions related to systems development, systems maintenance, and systems support.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises employees in one of the following areas; IT Operations, Application support/development, or Network Operations. Approves schedules and hours worked for exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Manages the day-to-day operations (computer room, servers, equipment, software projects, software support, etc.) of one or more areas within the IT department.
- Responsible for the financial fitness of these IT areas, and, responsible for managing the capital projects and budgets approved for these areas.
- Interpret and determine users’ systems requirements through communication and consultation.
- Review users’ systems requirements. Convert requirements into detailed design specifications including required hardware, inputs, outputs, processing, database and program design, testing plans, and implementation plans.
- Develop system project schedules based on estimated resource requirements. Provide guidance and technical expertise to develop systems which optimize the utilization of available technology and resource.
- Design, code and test programs per system specifications using established IT design and documentation standards.
- Document systems according to company standards. Assist users in the creation of functional documentation. Assist users’ to create documentation required for cGMP compliance and SOX compliance.
- Coordinate implementation of developed systems, including user training and deployment to end-user computer desktops.
- Support, enhance and maintain existing computerized systems.
- Provide user support, including problem research and resolution, uses of computerized technology, and education on the functionality of company’s computerized systems. Maintain familiarity with developing computer hardware and software technology and identify strategic opportunities.
- Develop IT standards and procedures. Work with system owners and appropriate governing bodies (Quality, Finance, and Internal Audit) to ensure that systems are in compliance with all local, company and governmental regulations.
- Provide analytical and technical leadership for the IT department. Lead analyst for providing information during audit situations.
- Manage multiple systems projects across multiple applications and multiple platforms.
- Participate in the design, development and implementation of corporate systems that impact plant users. Provide plant-wide expertise and support of corporate systems that are utilized by plant users.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
- Prefer some supervisory experience managing employees and contractors.
- Prefer experience in a technical support role, working knowledge of multiple development platforms (preferably Visual Basic, SQL, HTML, .NET, python), an understanding of Inter/Intranet technologies, MCP or MCSE certification or High-Level programming language certification/experience, and project management skills.
- Prefer experience working with and supporting manufacturing, and financial systems (preferably Oracle EBS), supporting internal and external audits, and working in a healthcare or similarly government regulated environment.
Education and Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor’s Degree: Computer Science or Information Systems or comparable industry experience
- Advanced technical certification (i.e. MCSE, etc).
- 8 years IT experience.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Primarily office environment.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
