Your Impact
The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Assistant Controller, is responsible for delivering high quality service to both internal and external customers and will support various areas of the Accounting Department. Those who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and dynamic environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail while managing multiple priorities, duties and deadlines possess the attributes to be successful in this role. The ideal candidate is also highly motivated, professional, and proactive with the ability to prioritize and maintain professionalism.
What You’ll Do
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly commission payments.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly royalty payments.
- Preparation of monthly expense accruals; tracking actual spends against budgets and following up on missing invoices. Ensure expense recognition is in accordance with GAAP.
- Preparation of monthly GL reconciliations as assigned including but not limited to Cash, Accounts Payable, Accrued Expenses, Accrued Commissions, and Accrued Royalties.
- Preparation of journal entries to accurately record inter-company activity between Kent owned brands.
- Ensure financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported.
- Participates in an accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle.
- Assists in preparing documents to support audit processes (e.g., annual financial statements, sales/use tax, etc.).
- Responsible for the retention of records relating to the finance department.
What You’ve Accomplished
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1 - 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- High level of proficiency with Office 365 suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Detail oriented and accurate with numbers and the presentation of accounting data
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Dynamics365, NetSuite, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
