We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Forest Technician - Trainee, in Jacksonville, TX. As a Forest Technician Trainee, you'll be responsible for maintaining a healthy stand of timber that will benefit the landowner's investment for years to come through timber management services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain a good relationship with landowners to determine and meet the goals and objectives for their timber land. Includes knowledge of stand prescriptions and marketing; reconnaissance/inspection of timber land and development of management plans complete with report and mapping
- Build and maintain a good relationship with contractors to meet our client’s goals and objectives. Includes soliciting bids and proposals for timber sales, reforestation, herbicide applications and inspecting operations and applications.
- Ensure tract boundaries are properly marked prior to logging operations and oversight of logging operations.
- Create damage appraisals for new and existing clients. Includes inspection and appraising timber damage along with providing a report and mapping
- Prepare tract maps and aerial photos
- Performs other related duties as assigned and required by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency
- 1+ years’ experience in the Forestry field, preferred
- Experience in Microsoft Office Products
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Continually required to walk/hike, sit, talk/hear and utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read a computer monitor and use a keyboard
- Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions, wildlife and terrain conditions. Risks include snake or insect bites or stings and excessive machinery noise
- Personal Protective Equipment to be worn. Hard hat, boots, ear and eye protection required
- Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items less than 50 pounds
- Frequently travel for property inspections, company meetings or functions with fleet vehicle
