Knife River has an excellent opportunity for an Aggregates Quality Control (QC) Supervisor. This position will be located in the Burnet area reporting most days to our Honey Creek Quarry. A company truck will be provided for this position. Our QC Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the investigation and resolution of aggregate materials quality issues. The QC Supervisor is responsible for developing, overseeing, and leading the quality control program for two limestone quarries, one sand plant, and two aggregate rail yards. This individual ensures the consistent production of high-quality aggregates in compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and customer specifications. The role includes supervisory responsibility for quality control technicians, as well as training plant and yard operators in quality processes and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in aggregate quality control or related field, with supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.
• Thorough understanding of aggregate production processes, quality control testing (such as gradation, moisture, and specific gravity), and ASTM/AASHTO/State specifications.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; proven ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-site, fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with quality control management software such as Stonemont preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly between multiple sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and lead a comprehensive quality control program for multiple aggregate operations, including quarries, sand plant, and rail yards.
• Supervise quality control technicians in daily sampling, testing, and inspection of aggregates to ensure compliance with internal and external specifications.
• Train quality control technicians and plant/yard operators in sampling, testing procedures, process adjustments, and documentation requirements.
• Coordinate with plant and yard management to ensure quality control standards are integrated throughout production and shipping processes.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of testing results, quality issues, and corrective actions.
• Analyze test data and production trends to identify root causes of nonconformance and recommend process improvements.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns, participating in investigations and communicating resolutions.
• Work closely and communicate effectively with internal and external customers on issues that pertain to quality concerns.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements related to aggregate production and quality control.
• Develop and deliver ongoing training programs for quality control staff and operations personnel to reinforce quality standards and awareness.
• Prepare and present regular reports on quality performance, trends, and improvement initiatives to management.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

• Split time between office, laboratory, and field environments (quarries, sand plant, rail yards).
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
• Must be able to stand and walk on uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time.
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required as necessary.
