Job Purpose: We’re seeking a dedicated and professional Certified Medical Assistant to join our patient-centered team. JOB FUNCTIONS:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and document medical history and vital signs in the EMR system.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist physicians during procedures.
- Educate patients with clear, accurate information about treatments and follow-up care.
- Administer medications and process pharmacy requests as directed.
- Pre-certify patients for treatment.
- Pull all orders (including telephone) and ensure that there are no patient "open orders".
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for processing.
- Proactively follow up with patient labs (i.e., biopsy, cysto's, u/a, blood work, etc.) and patient records in a timely manner.
- Ensure patient is scheduled with correct provider.
- Remove stents, sutures, etc. as directed by physician.
- Prepare examination rooms by maintaining the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms, as well as arranging the instruments and equipment.
- Perform venipuncture on assigned patients with accuracy and care (not applicable in Peds).
- Uphold HIPAA and OSHA standards and foster a respectful, positive environment.
- Support additional tasks as needed to ensure exceptional patient care.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Education/Training
- 2 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant.
Skills & Abilities:
- Analytical Skills; must be able to understand and follow medical charts and diagnoses.
- Detail Oriented; must be precise when taking vital signs and recording patient information.
- Interpersonal Skills; must be able to discuss patient information with physician and other medical personnel tactfully and confidentially.
- Must be able to interact with patients who may be in pain or in distress in a calm and professional manner.
- Excellent organizational, time management and follow through skills are required.
Computer literacy:
- Technical Skills; Proficiency in and working knowledge of medical software applications, e.g., EMR, EHR, as well as Microsoft Office Applications.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations
- Medical Assistant Certification is required.
Driving Requirements:
- A valid State of Georgia Driver's License and reliable transportation is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Demands: This position requires a substantial amount of standing, sitting and working at a computer station throughout the day.
Work Environment: Must be flexible and available to work at different locations.
