Job Description

U. S. Steel has an immediate opening for a Reliability Engineer for its Caster operations in Fairfield, Alabama. The Reliability Engineer will provide ongoing technical support to Caster operating units, identifying opportunities to elevate the reliability of our equipment assets to world-class standards. The successful candidate will foster an environment that supports continuous knowledge transfer between operating units at the plant level.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Providing leadership, expertise, and direction in the implementation of Maintenance Reliability strategies.
  • Developing and executing multiple improvement programs and projects across the Maintenance and Reliability functions.
  • Ensuring that Preventative / Predictive Programs and Maintenance Planning Processes are implemented to meet both current and long-term objectives.
  • Leading and assisting in system maintainability and reliability studies of equipment.
  • Generating and evaluating data using appropriate systems.
  • Performing Root Cause Analysis of systems and subsystems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Conducting field analysis of operations, investigations, evaluations, and reviews while providing feedback to appropriate functional groups, including executive staff.
  • Identifying operational delays and leading problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Developing monthly progress reports.
  • Creating effective PM’s for equipment to support business unit metrics.
 
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the casting process.
  • Technical degree or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge in a maintenance environment is required, an Engineering or related degree is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • CRMP is a plus
  • Prior caster experience is a plus
