National EHS & S Manager

Position Location: Within approximately a 1-2 hour commute of one of the manufacturing plants below.

Atlanta, GA - Buckeye, AZ - Dallas, TX - De Soto, KS - Erie, PA - Kenosha, WI - Orlando, FL

Purpose of Role

The National EHS & S Manager is responsible for developing and implementing high-level strategy related to keeping our family members safe and staying compliant to federal, state, and local regulations, This individual develops and continuously improves Rehrig Pacific�s EHS System to drive efficiency and effectiveness and promote our Safety-First culture. They also support the Operations team with risk assessment, harm reduction, hazard elimination, and documentation activities.

Areas of Accountabilities

Design and Implement Rehrig Pacific�s EHS&S System

  • Design system of processes and procedures that ensure: EHS regulatory compliance at federal, state and local levels, family member safety and efficiency in EHS operations.
  • Document system content so pertinent information is readily available to, and consumable by, all family members.
  • Establish metrics and targets that drive improved personnel safety, system performance, and compliance.
  • Develop and oversee standard work for EHS and Operations personnel.
  • Support cross functional team members in developing and implementing local EHS aspects of the Rehrig Management System.
  • Provide operational reporting to EHS Managers and Leadership.
  • Maintain all National EHS programs, documentation and consultative relationships.

Lead and drive systematic, continuous improvement in EHS performance

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive audit program that verifies compliance with internal and regulatory requirements at all levels of the system and organization.
  • Establish and lead strategic goals that align EHS performance with Rehrig Pacific business strategy, personnel safety, compliance and operating efficiency.
  • Develop and manage an A3 process for select safety issues to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and lead standardization activities across Rehrig Pacific�s Manufacturing with the goal of all sites following standardized practices.

Develop and grow a culture of �Safety First� across Rehrig Pacific

  • Establish and lead engagement programs that inspire and promote safety culture at all organizational levels.
  • Develop training programs to teach technical EHS protocols and best practices; provide personal training where applicable.
  • Coach and mentor family members to be proactive with safety - identify and respond to risks, not events.
  • Represent EHS at the highest levels of Rehrig Pacific leadership to align and promote the safety culture.
  • Maintain alignment with National EHS Team, Plant/Site Managers, National Functional Managers and EHS Managers with respect to local and national EHS related needs.

Establish and oversee a risk analysis & reduction framework across Operations

  • Manage/create standard approach to develop safety specifications for new equipment/facilities to ensure regulatory and best-practice compliance.
  • Manage a standardized process to guide risk assessments for Operations.
  • Provide risk analysis / project support to operations where needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor�s Degree in Engineering, Science or EHS Management preferred.
  • 7+ years working in EHS role in manufacturing / industrial services. Minimum 3 years leading single or multi-site compliance that corresponds to OSHA and state level regulatory authorities.
  • Multisite experience standardizing policies and procedures across sites strongly preferred.
  • Thorough, practical working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, EPA and State level EHS regulations and accepted compliance.
  • Experience completing and submitting OSHA and state level compliance documentation and correspondence.
  • Proficient in performing, documenting, and leading corrective action activity for OSHA and State EHS compliance audits.
  • Certification as/in a First Responder, CPR, First Aid and/or CSP strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in performing risk assessments, hazard identification, job safety analyses and root cause analysis. Experience performing activities on manufacturing / industrial equipment strongly preferred.
  • Proficient identifying risks to, and causes of, injury/illness or first aid, and implementing processes to reduce occurrence.
  • Experience writing EHS policies and procedures, then training teams into compliance.
  • Proven ability to build and grow a positive, engaging culture around Safety, Environmental and Health compliance for fellow employees in an industrial environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel long term (estimated travel 50%. i.e. every other week for 3-4 days).
