About the job
The Assistant Controller is responsible for assisting with month-end closing, quarterly and annual financial reporting and controls around financial reporting; fixed asset accounting; bank compliance reporting; tax reporting, and treasury functions. This includes the development of processes, policies and controls to ensure the integrity and accuracy of external financial reporting. The candidate must also be equipped with strong project management and communication skills (both verbal and written) and have a desire and proven ability to work in a team environment.
Some travel may be required. This position has reports to the Controller and has personnel management responsibilities. The normal shift is 40 hours per week in the office, with periodic extended hours, as needed. This position may be assigned special projects, as determined by the Controller.
- Prepare and post journal entries and reconcile various balance sheet accounts monthly.
- Perform Bank reconciliations for assigned bank accounts.
- Maintain daily treasury function.
- Assist with running month-end close process.
- Maintain fixed assets company-wide including tracking additions, disposals and construction in progress.
- Prepares the fixed asset tax depreciation and roll forward for the quarter and annually for tax consultants.
- Assists in managing internal and external audits.
- Preparation of non-GAAP reconciliations.
- Liaison with Company�s independent accountants.
- Maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Perform various ad hoc analyses.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor�s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related major
- Minimum of five years of experience in financial reporting;
- Thorough and up to date knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements;
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making and analytical skills. Ability to drive decisions in a highly collaborative culture ensuring that the motivation is around doing what is best for the business;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and relationship-building skills; must have the presence and communication skills to establish credibility across the organization at all levels, including external constituents such as the external auditors;
- Commands and inspires trust with all constituents. His/her unquestioned integrity must be respected throughout the company. Detail-oriented and "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude;
- Excellent PC skills � primarily Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Well-organized, confident, self-aware, decisive and creative;
- Ability to work with set deadlines;
- General awareness knowledge of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA preferred
- Experience in Oracle Fusion.
- Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment desirable.
- Experience in a corporate environment desirable.
