Job Details:

Purpose

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Advertising and Exhibits Coordinator, an integral member of the marketing team, directs the seasonal advertising and exhibit plan for the University of Texas Press.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implements seasonal advertising plans for approximately 90 new books each year. Track budget and spending, negotiate ad rates, and pay invoices in a timely manner.
  • Manages all aspects of the UT Press exhibits and book festival programs.
  • Research appropriate courses for UTP books each season and deploy email pitch campaigns.
  • Purchase course lists from MDR, Brian Murphy Group and other vendors. Update lists seasonally.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Experience as an intern, fellow, or employee in the publishing industry, preferably in marketing; or equivalent experience in marketing communications; or a graduate of a postgraduate professional-level publishing course. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to quickly master and work with in-house and industry databases.
  • Ability to travel out of town, work occasional weekends and evenings as related to events.
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, with demonstrated professionalism and integrity. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Ability to lift 30 to 40 pound book cartons.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite as well as familiarity dealing with print shops and binderies, preferred.

Driving Required

A valid Texas, Class C, driver’s license is required to apply for this job; driving is an essential job function. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range

$42,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Work around standard office conditions. Some lifting and moving of boxes and materials up to 40 pounds may be required.
