This position will provide a centralized communication resource for monitoring and coordinating a variety of airport activities that affect the safe, efficient, and secure provision of services to passengers, tenants, and customers in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
- You will manage aircraft Common Use gates and Customs baggage carousels for arriving and departing international and domestic flights.
- You will monitor flight activity and airport aircraft parking resources to ensure a proactive approach to resolve daily gate use conflicts, which also includes cargo aircraft parking spaces.
- You will monitor the airports access control system and dispatch personnel to security related alarms.
- You will share responsibility for monitoring various Aviation Maintenance systems and respond according to established procedures and protocols.
- You will monitor and operates the Satellite Transit System (STS) during normal routine maintenance and emergency operations.
- You will answer phone and radio calls for maintenance and airport operations issues and respond according to established procedures and protocols.
- You will make public announcements via the Terminal Announcement System including airport voice paging service for customers and may, on occasion, accommodate airline request for flight operation pages.
- You will use the emergent notification system to alert airport stakeholders of any issues impacting airport operations.
- You will log information as appropriate on maintenance system issues and calls into appropriate tracking system.
- You will display and update graphic information on electronic reader boards at various locations within the airport using the Flight Management System (FMS) aircraft gate management system.
- You will monitor a variety of radio frequencies including Fire, Police, Airport Operations, Maintenance, FAA Tower, Ground, Parking, and Ground Transportation.
- You will maintain numerous log and data repositories including the Airport Communication Center Significant Activity log.
- You will assist with special projects related to the Communications Center activities.
- Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience in communications/operations at a large airport, police facility, or public service agency.
- Educated – You possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or equivalent – You must possess an AAAE Ace Communications or AAAE Ace Operations Certification or equivalent or greater qualifications (such as an Associate degree or higher and/or AAAE Certified Member (CM)).
- Desired – We hope you have experience in airline/airfield operations, maintenance dispatch, or working in a call center environment.

- Airport Knowledge – You are familiar with airport topographical, facility, and operational detail.
- Communication – You have excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills and are able to communicate with people who may be under stress to draw enough information to accurately assess the situation and contact the appropriate resources.
- Technology – You have the ability to learn new technologies, monitor logs and other documentation, and are comfortable using Microsoft Office.
- Prioritization – You recognize situations and selects the appropriate response or notification, in emergency, potential emergency, or non-emergency situations. You can tend to a variety of systems and issues concurrently and determine priorities on an ongoing basis.

- Work Schedule – This is a seven day a week and twenty-four hour a day facility. Normal work schedule will vary. Must be able and willing to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends. Will be required to work during emergencies.
- Work Environment – You will primarily work in a shared office environment.
- Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
- Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
- Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
