Job Description:

As our Assistant Undermanager you will coordinate all activities on a shift-by-shift basis with a crew covering seven days per week and execute the underground shift plan while ensuring statutory compliance is maintained.

Reporting to the Compliance Superintendent, you will be responsible for providing safe, efficient delivery and coordination, control, and statutory compliance of activities across all sections of the operation on a shift-by-shift basis. You are required to monitor, consult, and make decisions to ensure delivery of plans as outlined by managers and peers.

This role reports to the Undermanager and helps the business by,

  • Complete statutory inspections and reporting, recommending and initiating actions in conjunction with the Process representative to meet statutory obligations in accordance with Legislation, Statutory procedures, and the requirements of the relevant section of the site
  • Operate equipment efficiently to meet or exceed production targets in accordance with the daily / weekly plan.
  • Communicate all relevant issues to oncoming operators. In particular, advise them of work area conditions, equipment availability and condition, and any issues which may affect production rates
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical Process coordinators to plan all maintenance activities
  • Assist with a systematic approach to the identification and delivery of sustainable production process and method improvements
  • Foster a culture of excellence through consistent and effective behaviours
Qualifications:

To be successful in the role you will have the following:

  • Extensive experience working within the underground coal mining industry with demonstrated understanding of the coal mining process and the relevant mining legislation.
  • Possess or successfully undertaking study of Second Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency (Undermanager RII50920: Diploma of Underground Coal Mine Management)
  • Queensland Deputy or (1st or 2nd) Certificate of Competency or NSW Deputy Certificate with Mutual Recognition.
  • Current First Aid Certificate – Minimum Provide First Aid.
  • Current RIIIS301 – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1).
  • Current RIIOHS301 – Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (S2).
  • Current RIICOM301 – Communicate Information (S3).
  • Current RIIRIS402 – Carry out Risk Management Process (G2).
