Position Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for procuring goods, services, and equipment ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. They will negotiate with suppliers and manage purchase orders to optimize procurement processes. They will be very integrated into cross-functional teams to meet supply needs and will have regular interactions with Material Planners, Receiving/Inventory Clerks, and members of Product Assurance, Manufacturing, and Research & Development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the purchase plan to ensure inventory supply through the analysis of consumption, reorder points and order quantities
- Submit, track and monitor purchase orders, keeping core team informed of any issues and potential impacts
- Compile and analyze data to perform price analysis, make sourcing selections, and procurement justifications
- Develop strong relationship with suppliers to assure a positive and professional environment
- Coordinate and complete changes to the Approved Supplier List
- Identify areas where secondary sourcing plans should be established
- Support engineering and product assurance with spec changes, quality issues, and improvement projects
- Negotiate and coordinate return of non-conforming materials
- Support Accounts Payable to resolve invoice questions
- Act as supply chain SME for cross-functional meetings
- Follow company policies, practices and safety guidelines as outlined
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or Certification in Supply Chain/Operations preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement (preferably with ERP and MRP systems)
- Prefer at least 2 years of experience in a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with ISO and current GMP requirements
- Effective listening, communication, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent analytical, risk management, and decision-making capabilities
- Self-motivated, innate sense of urgency, drive for completion of tasks and projects under minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000
