We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Event Sales Manager to join our distinguished team. The ideal candidate will excel at building relationships, driving revenue, and orchestrating exceptional events that showcase the unique elegance and sophistication of Santa Monica Proper Hotel. This role requires a strategic sales professional who can elevate our event offerings while maintaining our commitment to unparalleled hospitality and attention to detail.
Position Summary:
The Event Sales Manager is a dynamic role that combines sales strategy with hands-on service. The ideal candidate will serve as the subject matter expert, responsible for executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and maximizing revenue by upselling amenities within our event spaces.
Position Responsibilities:
- Negotiate with clients using creative and attractive menu presentations and event proposals to maximize revenue/profit potential while fulfilling contractual responsibilities and meeting client needs.
- Coordinate with various hotel departments to ensure efficient purchasing, planning, and employee scheduling based on Banquet Event Orders.
- Communicate group details and changes to all hotel departments, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Prospect for new catering business using a variety of methods including phone calls, outside sales calls, trade shows, community functions, sales blitzes, internet prospecting, and supplier partnerships.
- Maintain an active trace/follow-up system using Delphi (salesforce) and/or Outlook.
- Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and conduct bill review upon completion of programs or events.
- Stay knowledgeable about hotel facilities, meeting space capacities, operational needs, and venue capabilities to provide resourceful options to clients and third-party vendors.
- Detail and distribute Weekly Group Resumes containing necessary manifest details to the Operations team.
- Communicate attrition and commissionable rates to the Finance department for proper payment/payout processing.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in the hotel event sales preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with Delphi (salesforce) and HMS is preferred but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong selling and interpersonal skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to handle difficult situations and guests.
- High level of creativity and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including holidays, weekends, and evenings.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to move throughout the property during extended periods
- Available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- May require lifting to 25 pounds
