About the Role:
The Marine Technician at Central Marine Stuart (CMST) plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of marine vessels through expert maintenance and repair. This position involves diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of marine mechanical and electronic systems, including engines, fuel systems, and hydraulic components. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with technical training in marine mechanics or related field.
- Proven experience in engine maintenance, particularly with diesel engines and fuel systems.
- Strong knowledge of transmission lines, pumps, and hydraulic systems relevant to marine applications.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and diagnostic equipment for mechanical and electronic repairs.
- Understanding of corrosion control techniques specific to marine environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in marine technology or related professional credentials.
- Experience working with electronic control systems on marine vessels.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance standards in the marine industry.
- Previous employment in a marine service center or shipyard environment.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to train junior technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on diesel engines, fuel systems, and transmission lines to ensure vessel readiness and safety.
- Diagnose and repair electronic control systems and hydraulic components using specialized hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Implement corrosion control measures to protect marine equipment from environmental damage and extend service life.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot mechanical failures and develop effective repair solutions.
- Maintain detailed service records and communicate technical information clearly to supervisors and clients.
