SUMMARY:  This position supports the food service activities of each kitchen throughout the district. They provide assistance to the Warehouse Manager, maintain required inventory levels, ensures specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct, verifies stock and identifies losses, maintains an organized warehouse layout, transports orders over designated routes. ensures safe operation of vehicles, and loads and unloads freight.

1. Drives vehicles (e.g. truck, forklift, etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated sites. Maintains delivery vehicles and forklifts (e.g. checking fluid levels, fueling, cleaning, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe operation of vehicle. Operates warehouse equipment (e.g. forklift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.) for the purpose of moving large and heavy items safely and effectively. D 20%
2.  Delivers a variety of items (e.g. groceries, food items, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of distributing items to assigned locations and/or individuals. D 20%
3. Loads and unloads delivery trucks for the purpose of receiving stock and/or filling orders for transport. Prepares orders by pulling from stock for the purpose of meeting food delivery requirements. D 15%
4. Complies with all policies and regulations (e.g. USDA, HACCP, Health Department, District, etc.) to ensure food safety, and the effective and efficient use of district resources. Attends in-service training and workshops for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions. D 10%
5. Receives stock and non-stock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications, quantity and quality of orders are correct. Rotates stock in warehouse and kitchen storage areas. D 10%
6. Maintains manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. purchase orders, pick lists, goods receipts, par orders, fixed asset records, inventory, returns, electronic delivery logs, incoming freight shipments, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, and providing materials and reliable resource information. D 5%
7. Uses tools to assemble and/or repair minor equipment and small wares. D 5%
8.  Participates in physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses. M 5%
9. Provides quality customer service for the purpose of maintaining an effective and efficient work environment. D 5%
10. Performs other duties as assigned. Ongoing 5%

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • No experience required, but experience driving box trucks and equipment repair preferred

 
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Criminal background check required for hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License, required

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Operating knowledge of forklifts, and powered pallet jacks preferred, but not required. Functional knowledge required within 1 month of entering position 
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, etc.
  • Operating knowledge of district information technology systems and department-specific software and equipment required within 3 months after entering position
