POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Planner’s primary role is to plan, schedule, and monitor the daily production activities for your value stream. Your goal is to optimize inventory levels while at the same time meeting customer shipment requests that are congruent with the company-wide on-time delivery objectives. You will create and release work orders (i.e. build to stock, build to order) to the manufacturing floor for products we intend to sell or may have already sold. Your ability to juggle complex schedules, navigate demanding deadlines, and collaborate effectively across many teams will be critical to our success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (the following in only a summary of the typical functions of the job, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible responsibilities, tasks, and duties)
- Develop and maintain a daily shop schedule that will ensure the highest level of Customer On-Time delivery.
- Responsible for planning production to meet customer demand and seasonal target inventory levels based on available production staffing and capacity.
- Manage finished goods inventory (by SKU) to ensure that customer service levels are met while minimizing inventory, production, transportation, and warehousing costs.
- Work cross functionally with all groups including the production team leads / supervisors to execute a realistic daily plan to reduce past due orders
- Evaluate part usage patterns to make decisions to control inventory while maintaining appropriate customer service stocking levels.
- Make necessary adjustments to short-term and intermediate daily schedules, reacting to market demands or company directives.
- Work closely with Product Management, Purchasing, and Operations to plan and execute new product introductions and targeted product eliminations.
- Develop and lead short-term projects related to capacity studies, cost savings initiatives, and most efficient use of available working hours.
- Recognize errors in Item Routings and notify departments responsible for corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with all customers (i.e. internal, external, etc.) regarding work order dates and quantities- both in relation to late jobs and future demand.
- Work with Operations to provide updates on work order expectations to the Sales team when requested.
- Monitor BOM and ECN changes to ensure material availability and schedule work accordingly.
- Proficiency in scheduling software and related planning tools (i.e. MASS500/APS/Planet Together).
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills, utilizing spreadsheets and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems is a plus.

Requirements
- 3-5 years supply chain/materials management/planning experience OR
- Knowledge of the business through on-the-job training in a related department OR
- Education as listed below
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain, or related field
