Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team that is committed to the continued growth and success of the Indy Region?  If so, our client is searching for a Senior Director of Talent & Workforce Development to join their team!  If you have a history of demonstrated success in community development, talent attraction, retention, and strategic planning particular to economic development, this is the position for you! 

     

The Senior Director of Talent and Workforce Development serve as the strategic lead for the Indy Chamber’s talent initiatives, overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive workforce portfolio—including the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP), employer engagement strategies, education partnerships, and internal talent programs.


Acting as the Chamber’s primary relationship manager with employers and education leaders, this role functions as a trusted consultant—meeting directly with businesses to understand their talent challenges and crafting customized recommendations, connections, and solutions. Internally, the Senior Director is responsible for designing and launching new talent initiatives for the Chamber itself, including internships, apprenticeships, fellowships, and equitable hiring and onboarding practices.


This role manages a growing team, drives cross-sector alignment, and ensures the Chamber remains a leader in developing a skills-first, inclusive talent ecosystem for Central Indiana.

Requirements

     

Strategic Leadership & Ecosystem Stewardship

  • Serve as the Chamber’s senior representative on talent and workforce development issues, cultivating relationships with employers, higher education leaders, school districts, workforce boards, and public-sector partners.
  • Lead high-level conversations with employers to assess their current talent strategies, identify pain points, and offer actionable recommendations or connections to aligned resources or programs.
  • Drive alignment across the region’s education-to-career system by coordinating with business and education stakeholders.
  • Represent the Chamber in State and national talent development initiatives, roundtables, and policy discussions.

Program Oversight & Design

  • Oversee the Chamber’s full talent development portfolio—including the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP), Fast Forward, skills-first hiring initiatives, and future workforce programming.
  • Lead the design and implementation of internal talent initiatives for the Chamber, such as: Internship and apprenticeship programs, Fellowship opportunities, Equitable hiring, onboarding, and internal career pathway standards.
  • Supervise the development and launch of tools and resources to support members with skills-first hiring, youth talent engagement, and employee retention.

Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway

  • Serve as the strategic lead for INCAP, the Chamber’s youth apprenticeship initiative, including vision-setting, high-level stakeholder engagement, and fundraising alignment.
  • Lead superintendent and employer recruitment for the regional Youth Apprenticeship Career Fair and oversee the development of the regional playbook for statewide replication.
  • Ensure integration of K–12, postsecondary, and employer voices in apprenticeship design and delivery.

Team Leadership

  • Directly supervise the Career Exploration & K–12 Manager and the Higher Education & Workforce Manager, ensuring alignment between daily execution and big-picture strategy.
  • Provide thought partnership, coaching, and performance management to team members.
  • Collaborate across departments—especially Policy, Business Development, and Marketing—to embed workforce strategy in Chamber-wide priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience and will demonstrate the ability to create strategic plans, implement multifaceted talent attraction/retention plans, and interact with various stakeholders.


Preferred Competencies

     

This position requires a wide understanding of and demonstrated success in community development, talent attraction and retention, and strategic planning—particularly in the context of economic growth, overarching net migration, and stakeholder coordination. An ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in strategic communications, team building, and developing collaborative partnerships. 


The position requires an ability to develop strategic communication plans that align stakeholders, develop foundational, key messaging, mobilize tactical assets to drive outreach efforts, and ongoing reporting on those efforts to help the Indy Chamber's leadership and stakeholders understand how talent attraction and retention are driving the organization's business goals.
