Roles & Responsibilities: • Responsible to support 1000+ Sql db servers(2000 to 2019) and provide oncal support. • Responsible for all operational aspects of Sql Server database systems including performance, integrity and security. • Plan and execute database migration from Microsoft SQL Server to Postgre • Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues and provide advice on improving database performance. • Monitor performance of the database and the database servers; Determine optimal performance parameters for the database server, operating system etc. and tune as needed. • Carry out periodic maintenance of the database including table extents, indexes etc. • Carry out periodic maintenance of the database platform in terms of software updates, security updates and service packs. • Plan, test and execute a data migration from a Microsoft SQL Server DBMS to Postgre db • Ensure that redundant database systems are properly maintained, and that they are available for activation as and when required. • Carry out database design tasks in conjunction with the software development team and implement enhancements and modifications to the database. • Monitor database logs and take corrective action on issues if required. • Participate 24x7 on call support on a weekly rotating schedule, including weekends • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/documentation • Experience in legacy db versions (Sqlserver 200,2005,2008 ) as he will be part of migrations to Postgre and upgrade to Sql server 2019 • Provide escalation support for database related issues • Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed • Develop administration automation and monitoring scripts as needed |
