As a


As a Water Resources Plant Mechanic, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing essential equipment that powers our water resources. You’ll work with a dynamic range of systems, including pumps, motors, chemical feed equipment, compressors, valves, piping, and generators. In this role, you’ll contribute your expertise to install, troubleshoot, and keep our critical equipment in top shape. The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.


Compensation and Benefits: 
Hiring Salary Range: $48,438.00 - $55,358.00  Full Salary Range: $42,072.00 - $75,287.00

About the Role
As a Water Resources Plant Mechanic, you’ll be the expert who keeps critical equipment running—ensuring clean, safe water for the people of Greensboro. This is your opportunity to work with advanced systems, take pride in meaningful projects, and step into a role with long-term stability and growth.

What You’ll Do:
  • Install, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, compressors, valves, piping, chemical feed equipment, bulk tanks, generators, and diesel engines.

  • Troubleshoot issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions.

  • Perform and schedule preventative maintenance to ensure reliability.

  • Maintain accurate logs for repairs, actions taken, and preventive measures.

  • Provide lead support for mechanics in training, helpers, and laborers.

  • Safely operate a tandem dump truck to haul ashes and screenings for disposal.

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and procedures.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Rotating on-call schedule for after-hours and weekend coverage.

  • Hands-on mechanical work in an industrial water resources setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma /GED
    • "OR" an equivalency of 2-3 years of education, "and" 6 years of related work experience in a mechanical or electronic field 
  • 4 years of related experience in the mechanical or electronic field
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Prior experience with small tools, welders, cutting torches, etc.
  • Class B Commercial Driver's License ( "OR" the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire ) 
  • Certified Forklift Operator (ability to obtain one within 6 months from date of hire). 

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
  • Previous work experience in a Water Reclamation facility
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience working with diesel power generators
