Role Purpose
Responsible for planning, organizing, controlling and measuring the employees and activities of the new and used vehicle departments. Responsible for overseeing the success of the sales floor and sales team with a focus on unsold opportunities and closing percentage increase.
Core Accountabilities
- Establish long and short-range goals for the sales staff, regarding new and used vehicles (volume & gross). Recommend new car inventory to be stocked by color, model and equipment. Ensure manufacturer CSI standards are being adhered to; promote applicable surveys to ensure high CSI within the dealership.
- Ensure sales personnel are up to date (per manufacturer standards) on training and certifications; enroll in applicable training as needed. Ensure that dealership is eligible for all manufacturer awards and distinctions based on certifications and training. Train salespeople in closing skills and vehicle sales.
- Coordinate swaps with other dealerships, with objective of maintaining best inventory for the dealership. Report all sold vehicles to customers per exact manufacturer guidelines. Maintain sales log daily.
- Ensure that all supervised employees are entering complete and accurate customer contact information into CRM.
- Utilize Red Flag and OFAC software properly to ensure compliance.
- Merchandise new and used inventory effectively, ensuring cleanliness and attractive display of vehicles. Direct lot attendant as needed to ensure safe, clean, “ready to sell” vehicles at all times.
- Ensure new/used vehicle lot is kept clean and support lot attendants in the upkeep of the property.
- Work new and used vehicle deals with salespeople; assist with closing deals. Ensure all customers are turned over to the business department. Appraise trade-ins. Check deal paperwork to ensure compliance with DMV and finance institution requirements.
- Communicate manufacturer and/or dealership programs and incentives to sales staff as necessary, with objective of increasing new car gross and F&I penetration. Plan and develop advertising for dealership, in conjunction with general manager.
- Produce CRM campaigns and lists to support various mailings, events, owners clinics, sales campaigns and new vehicle launches.
- In support of the General Sales Manager, develop new strategies and activities to create sales opportunities such as evaluating lead providers, conducting Google preview searches, promoting usage of customer data mining software and consideration of digital vendor/partner proposals.
- Acts as a “working manager” stepping in to assist in handling sales leads digitally with digital sales manager and onsite to encourage effective closing/delivery ratios ultimately reaching metrics goals.
- Ensure contact and follow-up procedures are followed per written guidelines for internet leads, orphan customer, unsold showroom visits, phone-ups and lease renewals, recording data properly.
- Complete sales technique, lead management software & vehicle product knowledge training.
- Meet objectives for appointment setting and vehicle deliveries.

- High School Diploma
- 2-3 years’ experience in a sales / management orientated environment preferred
