As a member of the Data Services team, the Business Intelligence Analyst plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the ISU Foundation by transforming raw data into meaningful insights for our end users that support fundraising, stewardship, and student success. This position focuses on fulfilling ad hoc requests and producing high-quality data sets using SQL and other tools, ensuring that Foundation staff and campus partners have the reliable information they need to make data-driven decisions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of high-quality data sets to fulfill ad hoc information requests.
  • Transform data into meaningful insights for end users, providing clarity and context in support of decision-making.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other DATS team members working on information requests and data analysis to coordinate accurate and reliable results.
  • Provide support to end users in Foundation-supported applications/databases (e.g., Stewardship Contacts database, Donor Bios).
  • Partner with the Gift Administration team to verify and reconcile daily financial transactions, ensuring accurate and timely posting to the general ledger.
  • Assist with documentation and maintenance of data processes in various systems across the organization.
  • Support information delivery from multiple system applications to end users through a variety of reporting systems, ensuring consistency and data quality.

    Qualifications

    Education & Work Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or related field is required.
    • 2 years of professional experience analyzing data, publishing data results, analysis, and programming is preferred. Education may be substituted for years of work experience.

    Desired Skills & Experience

    • Must have knowledge of database and reporting systems, data structures, Microsoft Office, and SQL language.
    • Excellent customer service skills (end user support/assistance specialist/services) (excellent interpersonal and technical skills). Ability to describe technical topics from a business perspective.
    • Ability to work closely with others in an office environment. Ability to effectively communicate goals and priorities to team members and to communicate in non-technical terms with end-users.
    • Must have good writing skills and possess effective and strong presentation skills.
    • Ability to apply technical / functional expertise, manage and improve processes, practice self-development, champion change and innovation, foster collaboration and inspire trust.
    • Report development expertise, preferably in a data warehousing environment.
    • Knowledge of fundraising systems and higher education experience.
    • Salesforce data structure experience.
    • Experience with Jira Service Management.
    • Knowledge in SSMS.
