What You’ll Do
As a FIT Family Partner, you will use your lived experience to provide strength-based, peer-to-peer support for parents and caregivers of youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED). You will play a critical role in helping families navigate child-serving systems, build advocacy skills, and achieve their treatment goals.
- Offer peer mentoring and model effective advocacy and collaboration skills
- Connect families with community-based and formal resources such as afterschool programs, food assistance, housing supports, and more
- Provide education and emotional support to empower caregivers in the Wraparound process
- Partner with FIT clinicians and paraprofessionals to deliver intensive support in community-based settings
- Foster family engagement through transparency, compassion, and shared lived experience
- Document progress notes, encounters, and support plans in a timely manner
- Participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development to enhance your practice
Who You Are
- You have lived experience as a caregiver of a child with mental health or special needs
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition-age youth
- OR Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with 1 year of relevant experience
- Familiarity with child-serving systems such as DCF, DMH, special education, or psychiatric services
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Comfortable with technology, including word processing, email, and documentation systems
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
