Software Development Engineer 3

Summary of the Role

You’ll help shape and evolve our Internal Developer Portal using Backstage, improving developer workflows and service discoverability across engineering teams.

In This Role You’ll

  • Integrate Backstage with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), artifact repositories, Kubernetes clusters, and internal systems.

  • Develop and maintain plugins that connect Backstage with internal tools and services.

  • Create and manage scaffolder templates to automate project and service provisioning workflows.

  • Design user-friendly frontend components using React and Backstage’s plugin model.

  • Build backend services using Node.js and TypeScript to support portal features.

  • Support a comprehensive service catalog, software templates, and onboarding workflows.

  • Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, and security teams to implement access controls and compliance policies (RBAC, SSO, OAuth2/OIDC).

  • Translate developer needs into new features and improvements within the portal.

  • Promote best practices and ensure smooth lifecycle management of Backstage plugins.

  • Contribute to documentation and onboarding guides for engineering teams.

About the Ideal Candidate

  • Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and React.

  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, GitOps, and tools such as ArgoCD, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.

  • Knowledge of Terraform, Helm, and container orchestration.

  • Experience with authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth2, OIDC, RBAC, SSO).

  • Exposure to Backstage or similar Internal Developer Portals.
