Job Description:
ADM is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Trader to manage and grow our North American Fertilizer business. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in commodity trading, with a background in agriculture or related industries. This role involves managing the end-to-end trading process, building strategic relationships, and driving profitability within the fertilizer market.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the fertilizer market. Monitor global supply and demand dynamics, pricing trends, and competitor activities.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability and achieve business objectives.
- Execute trades for fertilizers, including purchase, sale, and hedging activities, while managing risk exposure.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and industry standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and end-users in the fertilizer supply chain.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, logistics, finance, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of trades.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain a reputation for reliability and integrity.
- Participate in month and quarter-end accounting activities.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on market insights, trading activities, and profitability.
- Ability to work outside normal business hours including weekends.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills to assess market trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in trading platforms, market analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth understanding of markets, including supply chain dynamics, pricing, and regulatory factors.
- Familiarity with risk management strategies and financial instruments used in commodity trading.
- Experience working with international markets or global supply chains.
- Knowledge of logistics and transportation related to bulk commodities.
- Existing relationships with key players in the fertilizer industry are a plus.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in commodity trading, preferably in agriculture, or related industries.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrated capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment
- This position requires working at a desk both on a telephone and at a computer for prolonged periods of time as well as traveling to visit customers in various, geographically diverse conditions.
