Medical Staff Office Consultant, PRN
The Medical Staff Office Consultant provides as-needed, project-based support to the Medical Staff Office. This role assists with targeted initiatives that enhance medical staff operations, compliance, and efficiency. Work may include document redesign, process improvement, technology research, and other special projects to support regulatory readiness and quality of service. Performs accurate, timely, and compliant verification of credentials and qualifications for medical staff and allied health professionals applying for appointment, reappointment, or privilege changes at the hospital. This role ensures compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations, and hospital bylaws/policies by obtaining and documenting primary source verification (PSV) for licensure, education, training, board certification, work history, malpractice history, and other required credentials.
Position Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Prior experience in medical staff services, credentialing, or healthcare administration required; certification (CPCS or CPMSM) preferred. Familiarity with Joint Commission and CMS standards applicable to critical access hospitals. Knowledge of primary source verification requirements and standards.
Licenses/Certification: CPCS or CPMSM certification preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the Medical Staff Coordinator and hospital leadership to identify process improvement opportunities.
- Revamp and update medical staff privilege forms to reflect current practice, regulatory, and specialty requirements.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend software solutions for tracking provider credentialing expirables, licensure, and certifications.
- Review and recommend updates to medical staff policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and state requirements.
- Work with the Medical Staff Office Coordinator, the Chief Medical Officer and the Payor Enrollment Liaison to expedite accurate Medical Staff credentialing and payor enrollment.

Compensation: $38.91 - $49.61/hr, depending on experience.
