We are looking for a Butcher Associate to join our family-owned Italian grocery and assist the Meat Department in serving the highest quality meats. If you’re interested, we would love to hear from you!

The Butcher Associate contributes to the company’s operation and success by maintaining a neat, efficient, and sanitary meat department and by providing exceptional customer service. Attributes that contribute to success in this role include strong customer service skills, being adept at cutting and preparing meat, feeling comfortable handing dangerous equipment, and familiarity with best practices surrounding food safety and storage.

The Butcher Associate’s duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing, slicing, trimming, cutting, wrapping, labeling, and stocking meat department products.
• Monitoring the freshness of meat products by ensuring the proper temperatures are maintained in storage and display areas and products are rotated daily.
• Keeping a clean, neat, orderly, and well-stocked meat counter and meat cases.
• Ensuring cutting and prep equipment areas are sanitized per company and government guidelines before, during, and after use.
• Taking customer orders promptly and efficiently.
• Providing high quality customer service by engaging customers and responding to questions.       
• Having knowledge of all department products and cuts to be able to offer helpful product information.
• Setting up displays and ensuring prices and promotions are easily visible.
• Complying with sanitation and hygienic standards and regulations.

The Butcher Associate’s work hours vary and will consist of day and evening shifts.

The ideal candidate for the Butcher Associate position:

• Has a minimum of 3 months previous experience in a retail grocery store or meat department.
• Can provide exceptional customer service with the ability to educate customers on products and offer suggestions.
• Can work expeditiously and efficiently while following all company safety guidelines and policies.
• Can multitask and navigate multiple workplace elements.
• Is punctual, reliable, and can adhere to a regularly assigned work schedule.
• Can lift up to 50 lbs.
