About the Department
As a Seasonal Maintenance II worker in our Parks department, you’ll assist staff with a variety of park maintenance tasks and safely operate city vehicles and equipment, while also taking on more advanced responsibilities and working independently. Ideal candidates will have experience in park maintenance or similar roles.
The work of Public Works department staff touches the lives of residents and visitors daily by maintaining City streets, parks, forestry, and the water and stormwater systems.
This non-exempt (hourly) position offers a starting wage of $16.91 - $20.17 per hour, depending on qualifications. Full-time and part-time hours are available:
- Monday-Friday: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday-Sunday: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Position Duties
The Seasonal Maintenance II – Parks worker values people and perspectives by:
- Assisting with the maintenance of City parks for the use and enjoyment of the community.
- Maintaining athletic fields, beaches, playgrounds, picnic areas, and outdoor ice rinks.
They are on the leading edge when they:
Assist with mowing, turf maintenance, and weed trimming.
Provide winter support such as snow removal, ice rink flooding, and shoveling sidewalks/trails.
And they expect the best by:
- Safely operate city vehicles, including pickup trucks, 4WD trucks with plows, carts, and small 4-wheel vehicles for snow removal.
Assisting staff with various park maintenance tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Miniumum Qualifications:
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Must have park or other relevant experience.
- Possess a valid Class D Driver’s License or be eligible to obtain one.
- Have a background or interest in local government work and serving the community.
- Show a commitment to developing your strengths and valuing each colleague’s unique perspectives.
