The Psychiatrist is a licensed physician who adheres to the highest standards of evidence based medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times. This position provides psychiatric services in an outpatient setting, consisting of diagnosis, treatment and referrals as appropriate. Duties of this position are to understand HCD Primary Care Clinics protocols and procedures and to ensure quality of care for all patients.

Essential Functions: 

Provision of full range of psychiatric services to assigned patients. 

Services provided include direct care of patients in the clinical outpatient setting including: assessment, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. 

Psychiatrist will prescribe medication to patients as deemed necessary and will conduct medication management.

 Analyze and evaluate patient data and test findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder. Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.

 Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.

Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.

Responsible for maintaining accurate and complete medical records, for completing proper coding requirements, and different forms as required. 

Participate in quality assurance and related activities. 

Maintain a close liaison with the PCP and/or Case Managers for coordinating the transition of care from clinic to hospital. 

Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural. Additionally, incumbents are required to perform emergency response and management duties for Palm Beach County as required.

Education:

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree required. 

Experience: 

Previous experience in a rural setting and in a public sponsored hospital is preferred. Bilingual /Trilingual in English, Creole and Spanish preferred. 

Certification: Health Care District Primary Care Clinics providers must be licensed and registered as a physician in the State of Florida, be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Psychiatry. 

Current BLS certification required. Licensure: Unrestricted license form the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine and the Florida Medical Board. Registrations: Drug Enforcement Agency Controlled Substance Registration including schedules: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5. 

Training: Current Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers preferred. Demonstrates current knowledge of general/internal/family medicine ongoing professional development.
