SUMMARY: (Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.) 

The Anixter Ambassador Board empowers emerging leaders to support and advance Anixter Center’s mission through advocacy, fundraising, and service. Members build connections with peers, strengthen their leadership skills, and help create a more inclusive and equitable world for people with disabilities, individuals experiencing mental health challenges, and members of the Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing communities.  

The Anixter Ambassador Board Member serves as an active volunteer leader, participating in meetings, events, and campaigns that increase awareness, raise funds, and engage the community with Anixter Center’s mission. This is an unpaid volunteer role intended for professionals looking to develop nonprofit leadership skills while making a tangible impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Individual duties, assignments, and responsibilities required of the position.) 

  • Attend 80% of meetings, which will be held monthly (virtual and in-person options).
  • Commit an estimated of 2-4 hours monthly to support Anixter Ambassador Board endeavors, including monthly meetings, stewardship outreach, and event support.
  • Participate in at least one committee or leadership area (e.g., Events, Fundraising, Community Connections, and Stewardship).
  • Support and promote key strategic initiatives of the Philanthropy Team.
  • Collaborate to create, plan, and host one Annual Ambassador Board fundraising event.
  • Collaboratively develop and execute social media campaigns throughout the year, with the support of the Philanthropy Team, for Giving Tuesday and other intiatives.
  • Engage in donor stewardship projects (handwritten cards, stewardship phone calls).
  • Engage in major Anixter events such as The Anixter Experience Gala and Golf Outing, either by volunteering or ticketed-attendance.
  • Engage in peer-to-peer outreach to increase awareness and participation.
  • Contribute a minimum annual fundraising goal of $2,000, by leveraging personal networks or through personal giving.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Anixter Center by upholding Anixter values of Inclusion, Leadership, Connection, Impact, and Service.

REQUIREMENTS (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.) 

  • Experienced professional, ideally mid-career or beyond, with a demonstrated interest in nonprofit initiatives, disability advocacy, or community engagement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • 80% annual attendance to monthly meetings and events.
  • Willingness to contribute time, energy, and networks toward fundraising and awareness efforts.
  • Prior nonprofit or volunteer experience is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.
  • A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
