JSI invites you to join our team as a Traveling OSP Inspector on our Fiber Design & Implementation team for our Jena, LA projects, where you'll play a critical role in advancing broadband and telecommunications initiatives that expand connectivity and drive digital inclusion- while, advancing your career within a mission-driven, growth-focused organization.

Position Overview:
As a Traveling OSP Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing fiber optic cable construction to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering plans. In this role, you will collaborate closely with construction crews, project managers, and permitting agencies to support the successful buildout of fiber infrastructure across the U.S. This position is not located in Jena, LA. The projects are located across the lower US states to include TX, NM, AZ, and others.

Responsibilities

  • Working on-site with the crews daily (in varied weather conditions).
  • Ensuring proper placement of fiber, taking sequential numbers from cable, locating hand holes using client furnished locator, and ensuring handholes are installed correctly and in the desired locations.
  • Assist in establishing schedules, coordinating, monitoring workflow, and tracking cost expenditures.
  • Preparing reports and documents, and maintaining project records.
  • Prepare as-builts daily showing sequential numbers, hand hole locations, marking splice points, and including GPS coordinates per hand hole.
  • Provide quality control to ensure adherence to construction/engineering standards/specifications.
  • Interacting with landowners, permit agencies, and other company departments. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience in telecommunications inspection, construction, and/or engineering.
  • Ability to read and interpret staking sheets and construction prints.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, and basic computer proficiency.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain; capable of standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Must be willing to travel 100% and work overtime as required. A reliable vehicle is required.
  • This position requires U.S. citizenship or Permanent Resident status
