OVERVIEW
Cadrex is looking for a detail-oriented professional to join our team as a CMM Technician. As a CMM Technician, you will be responsible for operating and programming coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to ensure accurate and precise measurement of manufactured parts and components. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, interpret technical drawings, and perform inspections to maintain quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, proficiency in CMM software, and a keen eye for detail.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and program CMMs to conduct dimensional inspections on manufactured parts and components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality control teams to understand inspection requirements and establish inspection plans for various products
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine measurement points, tolerances, and inspection methods
- Set up and calibrate CMM equipment, including fixture and probe configurations, to ensure accurate and reliable measurements
- Conduct thorough inspections using CMM equipment, collecting and analyzing data, and documenting measurement results
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with CMM equipment, performing routine maintenance and coordinating repairs as needed
- Generate inspection reports and documentation, including dimensional reports, capability studies, and statistical process control (SPC) charts
- Collaborate with quality engineers and production teams to address non-conforming parts and implement corrective actions
- Continuously evaluate and improve measurement processes, optimizing CMM programs and inspection techniques to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in CMM technology, and best practices in metrology to ensure compliance and proficiency
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety guidelines and promoting a safe working environment
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience as a CMM Technician or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in operating and programming CMM equipment, including knowledge of CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, Metrolog XG)
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with different measurement techniques, including contact and non-contact methods
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to conduct accurate and precise measurements
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve measurement issues
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC tools is a plus
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and other software applications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Adherence to quality and safety standards, with a commitment to continuous improvement
- This job may require bending, squatting, lifting up to 50lbs
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma
- One year college program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
