As General Sales Manager at Walter E. Smithe Furniture & Design, you will have the exciting opportunity to work in a beautiful showroom, lead & coach a professional team, and run the day-to-day showroom operations.
Who You Are:
- Must have 5+ years showroom management experience in the furniture/design industry
- An entrepreneurial leader with a proven track record for success in retail management
- A high-energy supervisor with a knack for building internal & cross-functional relationships and an ability to motivate staff of varying personality types and roles
- An adept coach, with experience utilizing key performance indicators to guide direct reports to success
- Someone who enjoys interacting with clients and takes pride in providing a high-caliber client experience
- A self-motivated individual with a solution-driven mindset, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to plan and prioritize tasks
Requirements
What You’ll Do:
- As part of our GSM team, you’ll report to our Director of Sales, and participate in weekly meetings with other managers and members of the Smithe family.
- You will lead a team of direct reports, including support managers, designers, trainees, and store display staff.
- As coach, you will observe your designers, get involved in their client interactions, have a deep understanding of their KPIs, and provide feedback both in the moment and during regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings.
- You will be present on the showroom floor and constantly interacting with clients to ensure that they have the best possible experience, resulting in repeat business and word-of-mouth referrals.
- You will benefit from dedicated client service support, plus you and your team will have access to our cutting-edge technology and training resources to ensure that your designers have the tools they need to be successful.
- You will partner with our Recruiter to fill open positions on your team.
- By focusing on your designers, clients, and tapping into our regular cadence of promotional activity, you’ll meet or exceed monthly sales goals and KPIs
What you’ll Need:
- Availability to work weekends and some holidays
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- The ability to move through the showroom at a pace that satisfies the needs of our clients
- Excellent judgement, discretion, and respect for confidentiality
- Extensive sales & design skills
