What to expect:

 

The Manager of Contract and Purchasing will be responsible for the administration, origination, and maintenance of all UGE’s (United Ground Express’s) contract and purchasing agreements. This role will report directly to the Sr. Manager of Finance and Resource Planning and will support all UGE corporate contracts as well as contracts and agreements in place supporting field operations.

 

In an effort to develop and expand our current contract administration and life-cycle process, we are looking for a professional with strong organizational skills and experience implementing expanded contract management solutions. UGE will look to this Manager to provide in-depth analysis of existing agreements and areas that we can seek to add value through purchasing agreements.

 

This role will support all corporate and operational business areas of UGE. As a result, a broad spectrum of engagement is needed with UGE management, vendor operations managers, vendor corporate support counter parties, and airport administrators. To be successful in this role, the Manager of Contracts and Purchasing will need excellent verbal and written communication skills to properly manage responsibilities and support our counterparties.

 

How you will make an impact:

  • Manage strategic initiatives and lead large-scale sourcing, negotiations, administration, and implementation projects
  • Act as a partner with all business units to understand their needs for approved projects while establishing a consistent and clear communication processes
  • Manage UGE supplier diversity initiatives and look for opportunities to continue to expand UGE's business partnerships with diverse and historically underutilized business
  • Support business development team with required data for RFP and bid responses
  • Support local sourcing initiatives and review local contracts under UGE contract guidelines
  • Review all contracts, manage and escalate changes, and ensure all UGE indemnity requirements are met and adhered to by counterparties.
  • Develop and expand relationship with corporate legal and insurance partners to ensure contracts are up to date on latest strategic changes
  • Lead supplier relationship management (SRM) activities while acting as the subject matter expert (SME)
  • Lead cross functional teams in support of new or developing category initiatives that drive value and savings
  • Mentor and manage the Contract Specialist, providing guidance on contract development, negotiation strategies, and compliance to ensure alignment with organizational goals and procurement policies.
  • Expand supplier feedback and implement scorecard process at UGE for major business partners
  • Review and audit contract compliance and support operations in contract service failures
  • Develop and implement 2nd generation contract management process for UGE and act as SME to coach and expand general contract knowledge throughout the company
  • Assist our legal counsel and insurance departments with questions about specific language or scope agreements attached to existing contracts
  • Work with UGE project management team to coordinate clear timetables and updates on the bundle of new contracts tied to starting a new location up
  • Update finance leadership weekly on status of all outstanding contracts and amendments
  • Update UGE leadership monthly on over all contract strategy, outstanding items, and upcoming needs and changes
  • Learn UGE purchasing and contracts system (COUPA) for final electronic execution and tracking of all major contracts and capital purchase agreements
  • Manage and escalate contract or pricing issues in COUPA to corporate support team or vendors for resolution on items outstanding or in conflict
  • Support analysis for purchasing decisions between existing PO system suppliers and new vendors

What you will bring:

Required Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 2+years of experience working as a contracts manager or contract system administrator
  • Knowledge of corporate contract administration, key legal requirements and risks, and overall management of the contract life cycle
  • Basic accounting skills and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with many different parties in a short period of time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

 Preferred Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • MBA
  • Experience with data analysis and data visualization

Total Rewards:

Base Salary range: (L5) annually

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
