Core Responsibilities
- Lead and Develop Teams: Manage and mentor a team of Secondary Engineers across multiple sites, fostering professional growth and high performance.
- Project Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and integration of control and protection systems for high-voltage DC and AC substations, ensuring projects meet technical standards and milestones.
- Process Optimization: Own and continuously improve the Control & Protection Design process, aligning with industry standards and evolving customer needs.
- Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively, optimize the use of subcontractors, and implement targeted development plans to address skill gaps.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external engineering partners to enhance project delivery and innovation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve seamless project execution and successful outcomes.
- Performance Oversight: Manage project budgets, support tendering activities, and establish performance metrics to drive team excellence.
- Knowledge Transfer: Promote sharing of expertise and best practices to elevate engineering efficiency and organizational capability.
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 15+ years of engineering experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments within Transmission & Distribution.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large engineering teams (50+ engineers), including remote and multi-site leadership.
- Advanced expertise in substation control system design, electrical distribution, ancillary services, and industry standards.
- Extensive background in High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology and digital control systems.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize safety and quality, and deliver results on time.
- Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work flexible hours as needed.
Technical Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of control and protection systems for HVDC and AC substations.
- Proficiency in digital control system software, electrical distribution, telecom, and monitoring solutions.
- Familiarity with industry-standard engineering tools and project management methodologies.
- Ability to manage design budgets and support tender processes with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.
